Mark Connell

Mark founded Up Wealth Management (Up) in 2014. As Managing Director of Up, Mark is responsible for the Canberra, Sydney and South Coast business operations.

Mark has over 18 years experience as a financial planner and previously headed up one of Canberra’s larger financial planning firms.  Mark is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia.

Mark enjoys working closely with clients to achieve their objectives in life.  These clients are generally affluent, high net wealth or high net income investors.  They display the following characteristics:

  • They are willing to work with and place trust in a financial professional.
  • They are nice people to work with.
  • They value advice and are willing to pay for it.
  • They may be time poor.

He believes that the success of Up will be measured by the financial outcomes that are delivered to clients, business partners and staff.

In 2018, Mark was awarded the National Garvan Adviser of the Year award.  The award was based on delivering exceptional client experiences, assisting in growth and development of people within his business, actively contributing to the financial planning community and consistently delivering strong compliance outcomes.

Mark is married to Natasha and they have two children, Cadence and Carter.  He loves cricket, is a mad St.George Dragons fan, enjoys a round of golf and keeps fit at his local gym.

Aaron Hopkins

Aaron joins Up with a wealth of experience in Banking and Financial advice.  As a Director, Shareholder and Adviser, Aaron is passionate about the service, relationship, experience and outcomes delivered to clients.

Aaron has a Bachelor of Commerce, an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning (ADFP) and is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

Aaron's focus is to truly understand what is important to you and your family.  In a unique personal approach Aaron educates and guides his clients through the financial landscape to ensure they will make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Aaron enjoys working with those clients that: seek a long term relationship, accept and appreciate guidance from a professional and are willing to be challenged and kept accountable, 

A former professional hockey player who represented Australia at the highest level, Aaron enjoys all sports and spending time with his wife, Emma and their 3 young children, Lachlan, Bella and Noah.

Brett Billington

After years of gaining experience across a number of Australia’s best financial advice businesses, Brett has put down his roots in a business he can call his own and which reflects his values and ethos.  

Brett works with high net wealth and high net income individuals, small to medium sized enterprises and self funded retirees.  As a Director, Shareholder and Adviser at Up, Brett's passion lies in helping clients through technical strategies for SMSFs, trusts and financial modelling. 

Brett holds a Bachelor of Commerce, is a Certified Financial Planner, a Life Risk Specialist Advisor and a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

Brett is an advocate in delivering better client outcomes by integrating financial advice with other professionals.

 

Courtenay Walker

Courtenay joined the team in the Up Canberra office in November 2015.  Prior to this Courtenay worked in a Client Services Manager role for a national financial planning/funds management business.

Courtenay brings a bright and friendly personality to her role as a Client Relationship Manager with Up.  Courtenay will be the first person you speak with when you call our Canberra office and will provide you with a warm welcome in reception.

Courtenay plays a vital role with supporting our advisers in servicing clients, through writing Statements of Advice, preparing for client meetings and lodging paperwork with various fund managers and insurance companies.  If you have any administration queries that you would like to ask about, Courtenay is the one to speak with.

Aspiring to be an adviser down the track, Courtenay is presently completing studies in the Diploma of Financial Planning (DFP).

Outside of work Courtenay enjoys, keeping fit at the gym, all things fashion, catching up with friends and family and watching rugby and cricket whenever an opportunity arises.

Jennifer Bramstad

Jen joined Up Wealth in October 2017 and assists clients with anything administrative and advisers with advice documents.  Jen has previous experience from client services and administration within the Financial Planning Industry in Australia.

Jen is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Financial Planning and has prior to this, completed an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning. After graduation she will continue studies to gain the qualification of Certified Financial Planner and in time become an adviser.

As a Scandinavian she is loving the sunny weather of Canberra and exploring Australia. When not working you’ll find Jen outside going for a run, experimenting in the kitchen and spending time with family and friends.

 

Hannah Husking

Prior to joining Up Wealth in August 2018, Hannah worked for one of the major banks, in various roles, for 7 years.  Hannah has always excelled in client service roles and this strength serves the clients at Up well, in her role as Client Relationship Manager.

Hannah plays a role providing administrative support and completing advice documents for clients in the South Coast and Canberra offices.

Hannah is presently finalising a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Financial Planning and in time, aspires to be a financial adviser.

On weekends, apart from the study, Hannah enjoys spending time with her partner, their dog Dre' and catching up with friends.  Hannah likes cooking, loves snow skiing and helping out her partner with his business.

 

Olivia Jones

Prior to joining the Up Wealth team in March 2019, Olivia worked in a client services manager role for a national wealth management business in regional NSW.

Olivia is based full-time in our Barangaroo office and works closely with advisers in a client relationship management role, ensuring that clients receive an outstanding experience with Up Wealth.

Whilst working in this role, Olivia is finalising her studies and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in financial planning with the aim to move into an adviser role in time.

In her free time, Olivia can be found catching up with friends, frequenting the gym, adventuring outdoors and watching a local rugby match.

 

Rosa Nguyen

Rosa joins us from a specialised life insurance paraplanning background. Hoping to improve her own financial literacy and achieve financial freedom has been her main driving factor, triggering her initial passion for the financial planning and services industry. She genuinely finds it rewarding to help individuals in achieving their financial goals.

Based in the Sydney Office, Rosa proactively seeks to establish and maintain new and existing client relationships. She has a proven track record in delivering a consistently positive client relationship, which also includes efficiently completing any client service requests. Having already completed her diploma of financial planning (DFP) FNS50615 with Kaplan, she is now undertaking further studies, a Graduate DFP, to ensure her accreditation is recognised by FASEA’s (Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics) standards to assist you and your financial well-being, on her path to become an adviser.

Rosa is an avid “foodie”, a gym enthusiast and enjoys reading and immersing herself in other cultures through travelling in her spare time. You will find her chasing the sun whether it be at the beach or hiking her way through nature.

Linda Travers

Linda previously spent a life in investment banking and has been in financial planning on the South Coast for over 13 years.  Linda heads up our Accounts and Payroll for the broader business and is a key part of providing an ongoing service offer for clients on the South Coast in her role as Client Relationship Manager.

Linda is the first point of contact on the phone and in person at the ‘Bay’.  A familiar face, with a friendly smile, Linda provides a strong service that helps our clients feel in control.
